A different kind of nail
When you think about a regular nail, you probably picture a straight, solid piece of metal, ready to be pounded into wood. But it is a very different story for intramedullary (IM) nails, one of the implants that Tegra Medical manufactures.
During surgery, the doctor drills a hole into the medullary cavity of a broken bone and then inserts a long titanium IM nail into the hole. The nail is then screwed into place, holding the broken pieces together securely so they can heal properly.
